James Finestone is Director at Arup leading the Architecture business in Europe. He is an accomplished multidisciplinary leader and is experienced in low energy design, masterplanning and the role of Architecture in cities. He is currently working on a number of sports stadia projects around the world, a masterplan for a cruise terminal and conference centre in Istanbul, and has recently completed the New Engine Production Facility for Jaguar Landrover in the UK. He led the design for the Zero Carbon, logistics, and design centre for Ferragamo in Florence and the Headquarters for Al Jazeera, Istanbul. He has recently worked on HS2, Kings Cross Station, a Multi Sports Centre in Saudi Arabia and the masterplan for Marco Polo Airport, Venice. James studied Architecture and Engineering at Bath University prior to joining Richard Rogers Partnership in 1990 where during 15 years he was responsible for projects at Heathrow including Terminal 5, Mossbourne Academy, technology buildings such as the Broadcasting building for SBS in Seoul and substantial international masterplanning. As a founding director of FLACQ Architects in 2005, he took a central role in urban design, commercial, transport and education projects. He has lectured at Bath University, University College London and the Norwegian Association of Architects, Oslo.
